Substance addictions and abuse can get ugly very quickly. What starts as an occasional activity that you have control over, can soon develop into an uncontrolled addiction that destroys relationships with friends and/or family, and causes legal and financial problems. With so many issues forming the perfect storm, you may feel as if you are losing the fight against your substance abuse problem. Rest assured, there is still hope through resources that are available to help you kick the habit and win the fight.
Treatment for substance abuse varies depending upon the severity of the addiction. Severe and long term addictions can be treated with extensive in-patient rehabilitation, which incorporates individual, group and cognitive behavior therapy in a controlled environment. With the patient living on-site, these daily therapy sessions teach you to cope with your addiction and sort through that personal issues that may have caused the addiction to develop.
Less severe addictions, but problems all the same, can also be treated with out-patient rehabilitation. These programs also utilize individual, group and cognitive behavior therapy, but are done on a weekly basis, with the patient living off-site.
Substance addictions and abuse can control your life if you don't take control of it first. The resources and guidance offered by the therapists and professionals listed on this website will help you take that first steps on the road to recovery.
